Papermoon is a Viennese duo that celebrated success with acoustic (guitar and vocals), folk and pop in Austria in the 1990s .

history

The project was founded in 1991 by Christof Straub (guitar) and Edina Thalhammer (vocals). After their song "Night After Night" was played frequently on the Austrian radio station Ö3 in 1992 , they signed a record deal. The first album was sold over 100,000 times (double platinum). The two following albums went gold. The best known titles are "Tell Me A Poem" and "Lucy's Eyes". In 1996 Edina Thalhammer left the group for almost seven years and was replaced by Roumina Straub and, at times, Barbara Pichler. During this time only one maxi and one best-of album with three new titles were released. Edina Thalhammer tried to start a solo career in 2002 with the project "Tau". The original line-up has been in place since 2004. After an unsuccessful nomination for the album Come Closer in 2005, Papermoon was awarded the Amadeus Austrian Music Award in the group pop / rock national category in 2006 for the album True Love . The tenth album Lovebird is also the duo's last album together. Since summer 2015 Edina Thalhammer has been continuing the Papermoon project with new musical partners at her side. After the cancellation of all concerts in autumn and winter 2018 due to a chronic fatigue syndrome , she announced that she only wanted to produce studio albums in the future.
