Paper mill belongs to the Seega district of the Kyffhäuserland community in the Kyffhäuserkreis in Thuringia .

location

The earlier paper mill was a water mill . The property is located about 330 m south of the end of Seega and about 1.75 km (as the crow flies) northwest of Günserode an der Wipper at the Wipper breakthrough through the Hainleite .

history

It is documented in 1478 and can be seen as the first mention. It served as a grain and sawmill for the former Arnsburg above, on the eastern slope of the Kuhberg , of which only ruins remain today. In the church registers of Günserode, further usable evidence can only be found again in 1693 with the mention that journeyman papermakers of the place work in the mill. In 1711, the manufacture of paper is particularly emphasized. The mill experienced a significant economic upturn when it was taken over by Johann Gottlieb Fister in 1752. Later, with multiple changes of ownership, the paper produced in the paper mill was given a watermark that represented a bouquet of flowers under which the name of the then miller Bollmann was written. Around 1850 the property was acquired by Gottlieb August Wilhelm Steinkopf, whose descendants modernized the paper mill at the beginning of the 20th century by installing a steam-powered hanging dryer . Because this made it possible to work in three shifts , additional staff could be employed.

Despite the war and great difficulties in the former GDR , the paper mill continued to exist.

On February 20, 1992, the paper mill was taken over by the current owner, Lutz Großstück. The paper recycling concept was continued. The company was further modernized, but production switched from cardboard manufacture to cardboard processing.
