The sprat flat heads ( Parabembras ( Gr .: Para = next to, bembras , - ados = anchovies )) are a species of fish from the order of the perch-like (Perciformes). The two species of the genus live in the southwest Indian Ocean from Durban to southern Mozambique and in the western Pacific from the northern South China Sea to southern Japan at depths of 200 to 600 meters.
features
They are small to medium-sized, pink-red or orange-red fish that can reach a length of 15 to 24 centimeters. Their bodies are elongated, their heads flattened, their muzzle pointed, their eyes large. The pelvic fins are located below the base of the pectoral fin. The two dorsal fins are clearly separated. The bottom dwellers have no swim bladder and feed on small animals in a predatory manner.
