Compared to the nominate form , they are less divided into two at the end and do not taper to a point. The breast plumage is also a little less intense ocher than in the nominate form. As with the nominate form, the coat is largely black, but the proportion of black plumage is somewhat smaller. The shade of blue on the apex and wings is lighter.
  • T. s. sylvia - Gould, 1850 - northeast of Australia from the Cape York Peninsula to the height of Eurimbula National Park on the northeast coast of Queensland. The Australian population moves to the south and north of New Guinea in the winter months. It has not yet been clarified whether the nominate form in the winter half-year also in the distribution area of the subspecies T. s. salvadoriana occurs.

In New Guinea, the paradise reads populate monsoon forests in the foothills. Its range overlaps with that of the Spatelliest , which occurs more numerous than it.
