The Paradise River is a 180 km long river in the south of Labrador .
River course
The Paradise River has its source in a 400 m high lake area in the central southeast of the Labrador Peninsula . The region is also the headwaters of the Alexis River , St. Lewis River and St. Paul River . The Paradise River initially flows 3 miles west to an unnamed lake that it flows through. It then flows about 35 km in a north-northwest direction. He turns east for the next 10 kilometers. In the lower 130 kilometers, the Paradise River flows mainly in a north-northeast direction and finally flows into the southwest end of Sandwich Bay . On the east bank of the estuary is the Paradise River settlement (unincorporated place). At river km 62 the Trans-Labrador Highway ( Route 510 ) crosses the river. There is the junction to Cartwright . The catchment area of the Paradise River covers an area of 5276 km².
Fish fauna
Atlantic salmon and brook char (both anadromous and non-anadromous forms) are native to the Paradise River . Other fish species in the river system include the three-spined and nine-spined stickleback .
