Todays situation

The court in Paris was a restaurant at Schillerplatz (now at the main station ) in the city of Frankfurt am Main . It has been traceable since 1709, back then as the Gasthof Zum Schwarzen Bock . In 1784 Friedrich Schiller lived here on the occasion of the premiere of his drama Kabale und Liebe . In 1809 the inn was rebuilt in a classical style and from then on was called Hotel à la ville de Paris , later Hotel de Paris . In general, however, the name Pariser Hof quickly became established . From December 1848 a parliamentary group of the Frankfurt National Assembly (Paulskirchenparlament) met here , which - as was customary at the time - was also called the Paris Court after its place of assembly .

In 1898 the hotel was torn down and replaced by a pompous commercial building in the neo-renaissance style . The Grand Café Bristol opened on the ground floor, but it went down during the inflationary period . In the thirties turn one opened Café , the Café Wien . In 1944 the building was destroyed in the air raids on Frankfurt am Main .

In 1951 a new building was built on the property, the Allianz House , which in turn moved into a well-known café on the ground floor: Café Kranzler. It had to be demolished in 1973 for the new Hauptwache S-Bahn station . A sober functional building was built in its place in 1976 under the old name Allianz-Haus , which was completely gutted and rebuilt in 2007.
