The Helios Park-Klinikum Leipzig is an acute care hospital privately owned by the Helios Kliniken in Leipzig . It has 724 beds and is the academic teaching hospital of the University of Leipzig .

The location in the Probstheida district , right next to the Leipzig Heart Center , was inaugurated in 2002 by Rhön-Klinikum as the Park Hospital Leipzig-Southeast . Forerunners were the Park Hospital Leipzig-Dosen (former Sanatorium Dösen ) and the Municipal Clinic for Orthopedics and Rehabilitation Dr. Georg Sacke . In 2014 the hospital was taken over by the Helios Clinics.

history

The predecessor of the psychiatric clinics was the Dosen sanatorium , which was inaugurated in 1901 and was located about 2 kilometers southwest of today's location on a pavilion-style site. In the course of its history, the sanatorium was renamed as the state sanatorium and nursing home in Leipzig-Dosen and the district hospital for psychiatry in Leipzig-Dosen . From 1992 it was called the Park Hospital Leipzig-Dösen, Municipal Hospital for Psychiatry, Surgery and Internal Medicine . The permanent multimedia exhibition “Bewahren. Supply. Healing. ”In the foyer of the Clinic for Psychiatry, Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy recalls the history of this previous institution until 1990, in particular the murders of patients there during the Nazi era .

The Orthopedic Traumatology Center follows the tradition of the Municipal Clinic for Orthopedics and Rehabilitation Dr. Georg Sacke in Prager Strasse, which in turn emerged from the "Cripple Home Humanitas" founded in 1909 and the "Humanitas Home for Frail Children" established in 1929.

In 1993, the Georg Sacke Clinic and the Park Hospital Leipzig-Dosen merged to form the City Clinic Leipzig-Southeast .

On January 1, 1999, the Park-Krankenhaus Leipzig-Südost was privatized and taken over by Rhön-Klinikum AG . A new building was erected in the Probstheida district of Leipzig , and in 2002 the various clinics were merged on a 104-hectare site on Strümpellstrasse and Morawitzstrasse, in the immediate vicinity of the heart center. The site in Dosen was sold to a real estate company from Arnstadt . From mid-2009 the facility was called Park Hospital Leipzig .

In 2014, the Helios clinics received the approval of the Federal Cartel Office to acquire the Park Hospital, the Heart Center and the Medical Care Center Leipzig from Rhön-Klinikum AG after they had sold two of their clinics in the Leipzig region (in Borna and Zwenkau ). Helios changed its name from Park Hospital to Park Klinikum.
