Park Ji-won (born September 23, 1996 in Gangneung ) is a South Korean short tracker .

Career

Park made his first international appearance at the 2015 Junior World Championships in Osaka . There he won over 1500, in the 1500 m superfinal and with the relay the gold medal. He also won silver in the all-around competition. He ran his first World Cup race at the beginning of the 2015/16 season in Montreal and finished sixth in the 1000 m. At the following World Cup in Toronto , he came on the podium for the first time with second place in the relay. In the further course of the season he achieved second place and third place once over 1500 m. In Dresden he won his first World Cup victory over 1500 m and finally achieved third place in the World Cup over 1500 m. At the season highlight of the 2016 World Championships in Seoul , he won the bronze medal with the relay. In the following year he won the silver medal over 1000 m and the gold medal over 1500 m at the Winter Universiade in Almaty . In the 2018/19 season he won the World Cup over 1000 m with a third and first place and two second places. In addition, he came in Calgary to third place with the mixed relay and second place with the relay. At the beginning of March 2019 he won the bronze medal over 1000 m and the gold medal over 500 m and with the relay at the Winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk . At the 2019 World Championships in Sofia , he won the gold medal with the relay. In the 2019/20 season he won the World Cup over 1000 m and 1500 m. He had eight wins, seven of them in singles and also came third six times and second twice. At the four continents championships in Montreal in 2020 , he won the bronze medal in the all-around and over 1000 m and the gold medal with the relay.
