Infrastructure

Siam Park City ( Thai พระที่นั่ง คูหา คฤหาสน์ , RTGS Suan Sayam ) is an amusement and theme park in the Khan Na Yao district of Bangkok , Thailand . It opened in November 1980. A light railway was also built to transport visitors to the amusement park. The route led around the site in a spacious circuit. Based on an old plan and the tracks that were still in place (as of September 2016), it is certain that the railway in the south-eastern part of the park after leaving the depot also circumnavigated the area partially and in the south-western part of the park around the water park. Today the tracks to the north end in front of the Dinotopia attraction . The line was single-track , had a track width of 610 millimeters, several switches and served several stops . The parking area for the train , which is pulled by a diesel locomotive, was located behind what is now the Log Flume attraction .

vehicles

In 1966, four identical field railway locomotives of the type DS40 / 1 were delivered by Diepholzer Maschinenfabrik Fritz Schöttler (Diema) with the serial numbers 2886 to 2889 to Union Development Co. Ltd., Bangkok. Diema built a total of 25 locomotives of this type. These four machines were acquired by the Parkeisenbahn, designated as numbers 1 to 4 - not in the order of the factory numbers - and are still parked in the former, covered parking area today. Together, Diema only delivered 6 locomotives to Thailand, all of which have been preserved so far. In addition to the 4 machines mentioned here, there are two more as a memorial at a sugar factory in Ko Kha. One train consisted of five covered passenger cars , each with two axles, which were replaced again in the 1990s by newer constructions - labeled Siam Park Transportation Company.

In the construction of the new Africa Adventure attraction in the north-eastern expansion area of the park, a miniature track - albeit only around 600 m long - was laid out. Animations of African animals and landscapes are installed on an island, which you circle around in an oval by rail or ship. The locomotives made by the English manufacturer Severn Lamb from Warwickshire are only dummies, a commercial combustion engine is housed in the tender as a drive.
