Siam Park City ( Thai พระที่นั่ง คูหา คฤหาสน์ , RTGS Suan Sayam ) is an amusement and theme park in the Khan Na Yao district of Bangkok , Thailand . It opened in November 1980.

history

Siam Park City is an amusement and water park located on Suan Siam Road, which branches off to the north from the larger Seri Thai Road in the Khan Na Yao district. It opened in 1980. The park has the largest artificial wave pool in the world and in this part of the park there are also numerous swimming pools, water slides and an artificial river through the area. This part is also called “Sea of ​​Bangkok” and has the motto “Siam Park - World of happiness enjoy unforgettable”.

Siam Park City was founded 38 years ago in November 1975 by Chaiwat Luangamornlert. The park now has 2 million visitors a year from all over the world and has some of the largest rides in the region. The park started with an extension of 49 hectares and is now the largest theme and water park in Southeast Asia, covering an area of ​​121 hectares. The wave pool is now the largest in the world - certified by the Guinness World Records - and extends to 13,600 m². The theme park started with only a few rides, over the years over 30 attractions have been put into operation to this day.

Siam Park City is divided into three areas: the water park, the amusement park and the theme park (Siam Genius). The amusement park in turn is divided into 4 areas: Fantasy World, X-zone, Family world and Small World. The intention is to offer something for every age group. There is also a boy scout camp, an amphitheater with performances from America, Russia, England and China, and a large hall in the park.

Siam Park City is not the first park of its kind in Bangkok, but it is the longest in operation in the country and celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2010.

Theme park attractions (selection)

After around 25 years of operation, the park has been completely renovated and since 2007 numerous other impressive attractions have been added. These include numerous roller coasters such as the Vortex - one of the world's two largest looping roller coasters from Vekoma and the first of its kind in Southeast Asia. It is 787 meters long and contains 5 loops. The Boomerang with 3 loops is also from the company Vekoma and was put into operation in 2007 . Giant Drop is a free fall from 75 meters. Siam Park Tower is a 100 meter high observation deck with a complete all-round view of Bangkok. Balloon Race is a fast carousel and opened in 2009. Astro-Liner is a flight simulator in space.

The two-story Double-Deck Merry-Go-Round carousel near the entrance area is one of the early driving devices . Mega Dance , Take off , Condor and Ranger are driving devices from the German company Huss Park Attractions from Bremen.

The most recent installations include the Log Flume water slide and Africa Adventure , a system that can be circumnavigated by boat or park train . Here are animatronics of tigers, elephants and King Kong offered. In 2011, which was the Grand Canyon Express , a driven roller coaster ( powered coaster ) commissioned.

Located in the northeast part of the park are a large Dinotopia dinosaur museum and a jeep circuit through Jurassic Adventure .

Former attractions

The Siam Park City park railway , which was permanently installed like a field railway , with a gauge of 610 mm fell victim to the numerous expansions of the park, circling large areas of the site and even leaving it on its circuit. A small part of the route is still on the border of the park at the end of 2016. The Indiana Log waterway was shut down and removed in 2007 after an accident due to a technical defect as a result of a power failure.

Directions

In addition to taxis, bus lines 60 and 71 pass the park in a north-south direction. Line 519 also stops at the park and runs along Ramkhamhaeng Road towards the city center.

Awards and celebrity visits

In 1993 Michael Jackson visited Siam Park City on his Dangerous World Tour in Asia.

On April 30, 2009, the 13,600 m² wave pool at Siam Park City Amusement Park in Bangkok, Thailand was officially recognized as the world's largest wave pool by Guinness World Records. During a ceremony with representatives from the Guinness World Records and Tourism Authority of Thailand , the owner of the park received the official Guinness World Records certificate.

On September 27, 2010, Siam Park City received an award for a special contribution to the entertainment business from the Tourism Authority of Thailand .
