The name of the landscape goes back to the parish church of St. Martin in Medelsheim

The Parr ( The Parish ) is a popular name for the landscape between Bickenalb and Blies , south of Blieskastel around the former official and parish of Medelsheim . Usually one understands by it the four places Medelsheim, Peppenkum , Seyweiler and Utweiler, which formerly belonged to the catholic parish Medelsheim . The residents are "Parr-Nickel" - plural "Parr-Nickle" - teased .

The people of the Parr were and still are traditionally rooted in the Catholic faith. The many field and path crosses are connected by a cross hiking trail. The parish church of St. Martin in Medelsheim, to which the landscape name of the Parr goes back, can look back on 1,100 years. It is founded on Roman foundations, which you come across in the Parr at every turn.

The Parr is still a predominantly agricultural area and did not participate in mining. Orchid species threatened with extinction can be found on the shell limestone .

The term "Parr" has also been adopted in the written language since the 1980s:

"With the deliberate renunciation of the emphasis on the term" Parr "with quotation marks, the dialectal form of the word" Pfarre "is used here and in the following text for the area of the four villages of Medelsheim, Peppenkum, Seyweiler and Utweiler in the southeast of Saarland recognized as quite common ... This book deals with the history of the Parr ... "
