The association partnership Rhineland-Palatinate-Rwanda e. V. is an association supported by the state government of Rhineland-Palatinate ; it was founded on March 11, 1982. It includes representatives of the political parties in the state parliament, the state government and ministries, municipalities, schools, churches, the chamber of crafts, the chamber of industry and commerce of the local partnership associations as well as private individuals.

Purpose of the association

The association promotes the partnership between the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate and the African country Rwanda and supports in particular aid and development projects in Rwanda. According to its statutes, it pursues recognized charitable and benevolent purposes, which expressly include:

  • International understanding,
  • Education,
  • Initial and continuing education,
  • public health and services of general interest,
  • Child and Youth Services,
  • Sports funding,
  • Development cooperation,
  • Promotion of refugee aid,
  • Family support and
  • Individual help.

tasks

The association aims to spread the idea of ​​partnership between Rhineland-Palatinate and Rwanda through its public relations work. Its tasks include the promotion and advisory as well as logistical support, in particular coordination of the cooperation of local, regional and supra-local associations, institutions and organizations that are involved in work with and for Rwanda.

In order to actually implement its goals, the association organizes the transport of relief supplies to Rwanda and is responsible for the coordination office in Kigali . This coordination office is the point of contact and cooperation point for the Rwandan partners and is available to the Rhineland-Palatinate partners for help and information. It looks after the entire project management and resource management on site and ensures a regular flow of information between Rwanda and Rhineland-Palatinate. The office in Rwanda has become the point of contact for people who are looking for help.

organs

Organs of the association are:

  • the general assembly , which is called at least once a year,
  • the board of directors, which consists of the president, two deputies, eight assessors and a youth representative.

The State Secretary a. D. Richard Auernheimer was first elected President in 2009. Deputies are the Rhineland-Palatinate member of the state parliament, Anke Beilstein, and the district administrator of the district of Cochem-Zell , Manfred Schnur.

Finances

The association can invest around € 3.5 million per year in Rwanda, € 1.3 million of which comes from the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. In addition, the partnership office in Kigali and the office in Mainz are financed through the state budget.

From the foundation of the association in 1982 until 2019, projects in Rwanda were supported with a total of around 100 million euros.
