Parvin E'tesami , also Parvin Etessami , ( Persian پروین اعتصامی; * March 16, 1906 in Tabriz , Iran ; † April 5, 1941 in Tehran ) was one of the most outstanding poets in Persian literature .

Parvin Etesami was born into a religiously and culturally rich family. Her father Yussef Etessami or Etessam-ol-molk , to whom she had a particularly close connection, taught her Arabic and Persian literature in her early years . She attended elementary school in the American girls' school in Tabriz , which she graduated at the age of 9. Her father was an active member of the Mashruteh movement ( Constitutional Revolution 1905–1911). Furthermore personalities like Ali Akbar Dehchoda or Malekolshoara Bahar were her teachers. She was one of the first representatives of an intellectual women's movement in Iran.

She wrote her first poems at the age of 8, which caused a sensation in the small circle of the Persian elite.

She graduated from the American Girls' College in Tehran in 1925.

She published her first volume of poetry in 1935. The social and feminist aspects predominate in her poems, which are nevertheless very simple and written in beautiful language images.

The Parvin Etesami literary award of the Iran Book House is named after her.
