The Pasadena City Hall , the City Hall of Pasadena in the State of California and dominates the Pasadena Civic Center. It was completed in 1927 as part of the City Beautiful movement, which had the goal of making cities more livable, in the style of Beaux Arts architecture and has elements of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture and Mediterranean Revival architecture that go with it Time in the United States were popular. One of the architects, John Bakewell, described the design as a modern take on the Renaissance architecture of Italy in the 16th century.
It was designed by Bakewell and Brown architects and opened on December 27, 1927. Pasadena City Hall is six stories high and has 235 rooms. In the film The Great Dictator by Charlie Chaplin, Pasadena City Hall is a setting and represents a villa. In the film So Close to Heaven , its courtyard serves as the backdrop for a market square in a Napa Valley city.
On July 28, 1980, City Hall was added to the National Register of Historic Places as a Contributing Property of the Historic District Pasadena Civic Center .
From July 2004 to June 2007, Pasadena City Hall was closed for renovations. Among other things, the historic building fabric was restored for 117 million US dollars, the air conditioning was renewed and the foundations were seismically isolated to protect against earthquakes . On June 5, 2008, the Pasadena City Hall was awarded the quality level Gold for ecological building by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) during a festive ceremony .
