biography

Pascale Berthod lives in St. Moritz , graduated from the sports grammar school in Davos in 2006 and later began studying law at a distance . From winter 2002/2003 she took part in FIS races and national (junior) championships, from January 2005 her first starts in the European Cup followed . From 2004 to 2006 she was four times Swiss junior champion in her respective age group, twice in slalom and twice in combination. At the Junior World Championships, in which she participated from 2005 to 2007, her best result was eighth place in the giant slalom in 2006 .

Before the 2005/2006 season, Berthod was accepted into the C-team of the Swiss Ski Association . Since then she has competed regularly in the European Cup and was used for the first time in the World Cup in the giant slalom in Ofterschwang on February 3, 2006 , but was unable to qualify for the second round. At the national level, Berthod achieved her greatest success in March 2007 when she became Swiss champion in giant slalom. After being promoted to the Swiss B squad, she achieved top 10 results in the European Cup for the first time in winter 2007/2008, including fourth place in the downhill and fifth in the Super-G at Caspoggio, her best results in this racing series. In addition to the European Cup, she made five other World Cup appearances that winter and won her first - and only - World Cup points on December 29, 2007 with 28th place in the Lienz slalom .

After the 2007/2008 season, Pascale Berthod began a long ordeal. First she had to take a year off because of severe back pain, then she was unable to take part in races because of persistent knee problems. After an inflammation of the patellar tendon , she was diagnosed with bone loss in the knee and lost another two seasons. After she was able to train again painlessly for the first time in the summer of 2011, she made her comeback in November 2011 after a three-year break with competitions in the FIS and Nor-Am races in the USA . In December 2011, however, Berthod injured himself again. She suffered a fracture of the fibula head during training and had to take a six-week break. She then suffered again from knee pain during training, which prompted her to announce her retirement from competitive sports in February 2012.
