Pasi Saarela (born August 24, 1973 in Laitila ) is a former Finnish ice hockey player .

Career

Pasi Saarela began his career as a hockey player at Lukko Rauma , for which he was active in the SM-liiga from 1990 to 1995 . With Rauma he finished third in the 1993/94 season . He then moved to their league rivals Jokerit , for whom he was on the ice for the following four seasons and won the European Cup in 1996 . In addition, he was third in the SM-liiga with the team in 1998. For the 1999/2000 season , the attacker went to other European countries for the first time, where he played for Västra Frölunda HC in the Elitserien . After only one year Saarela returned to his Finnish homeland, where he played for his ex-club Lukko Rauma in the SM-liiga from 2000 to 2006.

Towards the end of the 2005/06 season, the Finn went a second time to other European countries and ended the season in the Swiss National League A at SC Bern and the HC Sierre-Anniviers from the National League B . The right winger then stayed abroad and played in the 2006/07 season at Leksands IF from HockeyAllsvenskan , the second highest Swedish division. After the year abroad, Ässät Pori signed the striker from the SM-liiga, which he left in the course of the 2007/08 season to play for Lukko Rauma again. There he ended his career in 2009.

International

For Finland , Saarela took part in the U20 World Junior Championship in 1993 , where he finished fifth with his team.
