Pat Appleton
Pat Appleton (born April 12, 1968 in Aachen ) is a German-Liberian jazz and soul singer . She became known with DePhazz , but has also pursued a solo career since 2007.
Live and act
Appleton first grew up as the daughter of a German and an architect from Liberia in the Rhineland. At the age of six, she moved with her parents to her father's home country, where she attended American high school after school. At the age of 18 she moved back to Germany to study political science in Heidelberg . During her studies she sang in pop and soul bands. She was discovered by Pit Baumgartner in the mid-1990s and recruited as a founding member for De-Phazz . From 1997 until today she has belonged to the group for which she also wrote and composed. She also sang for DJ BoBo , Jazzkantine , Ministry of Sound , the Nighthawks , Mo 'Blow and Gregor Meyle .
In 2007 Appleton released their first solo album What's Next? , 2011 Mittendrin , an album with songs in German, followed. On her third recording, A Higher Desire (2017), she sang in English again. In 2019 she performed under the motto Swinging Christmas for several concerts and a television production as a soloist in the hr big band .
