Mo 'Blow was a jazz radio band from Germany.

Band history

The Berlin saxophonist Felix Falk founded the band SahneFunk in 2001 while studying abroad in Liverpool , England - the original form of Mo 'Blow. The CD SahneFunk - Live in Liverpool with compositions by the band leader was created here in-house . Members of the band were Felix Falk (saxophone), Pete Watson (piano), Anthony Ormesher (guitar), Adam LT Boanas (bass) and Grenville Harrop (drums). After the band leader returned to Germany, the band continued to exist with new members and in 2007 changed its name to Mo 'Blow.

The last line-up was made up of Felix Falk (saxophone, percussion), Matti Klein (Fender Rhodes), Tobias Fleischer (bass) and André Seidel.

In 2008 the group released the CD Funkatristic on the Neuklang label. Falk was again responsible for the compositions and produced the album. In 2011 the CD For Those about to Funk was released by ACT ; it was produced by Nils Landgren , who also played along. Other guests on the album: Magnum Coltrane Price (voc), Magnus Lindgren (ts, fl) and Torsten Goods (git). In 2013, ACT released the album Gimme the Boots with compositions by all band members. The album was produced again by Nils Landgren and recorded in the Berlin Hansa Studios. In 2016 the band released a live album entitled Live in Berlin on ACT; guests included Nils Landgren, Pat Appleton and Adam Bałdych .

Mo 'Blow tours through countries such as Germany, Belgium, England, China, Czech Republic, Austria, Malaysia, Finland, Switzerland, Croatia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Denmark, Slovakia, Norway, Latvia, Luxembourg, Korea, Ukraine, Hungary and France. You stepped thereby u. a. with guest musicians such as David Friedman , Blake Worell , Michael Schiefel , Ron Spielman , Nils Wülker or Gunter Hampel .

At the end of 2015, the band announced that they would split up after the release of their live album Live in Berlin . Her farewell concert took place on October 22nd, 2016 in the Columbia Theater in Berlin.

Prizes and awards

Mo 'Blow is the winner of the Future Sound Award 2011 (competition of the Leverkusener Jazztage ) as well as two-time winner of the Jazz & Blues Award 2008 (first audience award and advancement award of the jury). In 2012 they received the Miles Award (Jazzrock TV). They also received the Jazz am See Award 2011.
