The rose variety Pat Austin , syn. 'AUSmum' is a bright copper-orange colored, intensely scented English rose that was introduced by David Austin in 1995. She is a descendant of Graham Thomas and Abraham Darby and was named after David Austin's wife Pat.
description
The bowl-shaped, double flowers smell like a tea rose and are colored bright copper-orange on the inside, while the outside is characterized by a yellow-orange shade. The stamens of the rose are colored bright red. Later the colors fade to pink, cream and pale yellow. The approximately 10 to 12 cm large flowers appear in small, long-stemmed clusters on arching overhanging branches. However, due to their loose filling, they are prone to rain. A characteristic feature of the rose are the dark green, glossy leaves, which form a strong contrast to the orange flower color.
Pat Austin forms a bushy shrub with overhanging shoots. In Central European latitudes, the rose is about 1.20 m high and can be grown as a standard stem . The remounting shrub rose is hardy . The shrub rose is suitable for planting cottage gardens , formal gardens and flower borders and is represented in many rosaries .
