Patrick "Pat" Elflein (* 6. July 1994 in Columbus , Ohio ) is an American American football poker players on the position of the Guards . He played college football for Ohio State and has been with the Minnesota Vikings in the National Football League (NFL) since 2017 .

college

Elflein grew up in Pickerington , a suburb of Columbus , Ohio , and attended Pickerington North High School. He then went to Ohio State University from 2012 to 2016 , where he played for the Ohio State Buckeyes from 2013 . In addition to his later position as center, which he took from 2016, he also played as a left and right guard . In 2016, Elflein won the Rimington Trophy for best college football player in the center position.

NFL

In the 2017 NFL Draft , Elflein was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the third round in a total of 70th place . Mike Mayock , former NFL player and analyst for NFL Network , rated Elflein one of the most tech-savvy offensive linemen in the draft. With the Vikings he signed a four-year contract for about 3.8 million US dollars.

He started as a starter from the first week of his rookie season and played 14 games, in weeks 14 and 17 he was out due to injury. His performance in this first season as a professional earned him a call to the PFWA NFL All-Rookie Team .

In the 2018 season Elflein was missing in the first three games of the season.

After the Vikings selected center Garrett Bradbury in the first round in the 2019 NFL Draft , Elflein moved to the position of left guard.
