founding
Pickerington was founded as Jacksonville in 1815 . When this city was known to the inhabitants of the village in 1827 it voted, the name in honor of the founder, Abraham Pickering , in Pickerington to change.

The current mayor, Lee A. Gray, was elected in 2011. His predecessor reigned from 1992 to 1999. In addition to the Mayor is a City Council as well as a so-called City manager ( dt . Oberstadtdirektor ) available.
