Pater Noster (lighthouse)
Pater Noster is a lighthouse on the Hamneskär archipelago , one of the Pater Noster archipelago, in southern Bohuslän near Rönnäng in the municipality of Tjörn in Sweden . The lighthouse was built from iron in 1868 and was in operation until 1977. The lighthouse replaced a beacon at Carlsten Fortress in Marstrand . It was extensively renovated from 2002 to 2007, and the lighthouse has been in operation again since September 26, 2007. The name “Pater Noster” is said to come from the fact that the Pater Noster archipelago is located in a dangerous channel where, in the past, many a seaman in distress at sea is said to have prayed an Our Father .
According to the definition of the International Hydrographic Organization, the island with the lighthouse lies exactly on the borderline between Skagerrak and Kattegat .
The lighthouse has been under monument protection as Byggnadsminne since 2015 .
