Patricia Oster-Stierle

Patricia Oster-Stierle (* 1956 in Essen ) is a German Romance studies and comparative literary scholar .

Life

Patricia Oster-Stierle studied Romance languages, comparative literature and German literature at the University of Bonn , the Université de Toulouse and the Harvard University . She received her doctorate in 1991 from Karl Maurer and Hans Robert Jauß with a thesis on Marivaux and Lessing : Marivaux and the end of tragedy . Until 2003 she was a research assistant for Maria Moog-Grünewald at the Romance Department of the University of Tübingen . She completed her habilitation there with a thesis on the literary form of visualization of the veil: The veil in the text. Functional history of an image for the modern experience of the imaginary and received the Venia for Romance Philology and Comparative Literature.

Patricia Oster-Stierle has held the C4 professorship for French literary studies at Saarland University since 2003 . From 2013 to 2017 she was a member of the Presidium of the Franco-German University , from 2013 to 2014 as its vice-president, from 2015 to 2017 as its president.
