Patrick Burow

Patrick Burow (pseudonym: Falk van Helsing; born January 27, 1965 in Hamburg ) is a German lawyer and author of humorous literature in particular. Burow is currently working as a judge at the Dessau-Roßlau District Court .

Life

After studying law, Burow did his doctorate at the University of Hamburg with a thesis on tenancy law and methodology. After working as a public prosecutor, Burow has been a judge in Sachsen-Anstalt since 1998 and at the district court in Dessau since 1999. There he oversees both civil and criminal law departments.

In the run-up to the Saxony-Anhalt state elections in 2002 , Burow was politically involved in the rule of law offensive party .

Burow published numerous humorous works under the pseudonym Falk van Helsing with - according to the publisher - a total circulation of over 130,000 copies (2018).

Burow is also active as a writer under his real name. In 2018, for example, he published the book Justiz am Abgrund, in which he critically deals with the overload and inadequate equipment of the judiciary. According to Burow, the President of the Dessau-Roßlau Regional Court , Winfried Holthaus, who was responsible for him in terms of service supervision , held a personal interview with him about the book. The President had rated the book as "too sensational" and as damaging to the reputation of the judiciary and announced that he would consider a poorer official assessment of Burow and the imposition of a writing ban on Burow.

Burow lives in Dessau. He is divorced.
