Matthias Iken

Matthias Iken (born April 16, 1970 ) is a German journalist and author.

Iken studied politics and journalism from 1991 to 1997 at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster and Högskolan i Växjö (Sweden). After working freelance for the regional newspapers Wildeshauser Zeitung and Nordwest-Zeitung between 1987 and 1996, he worked for several months in 1997 as an editorial assistant for the illustrated consumer magazine Gala and then as an editor for the business magazine Geldidee . At the beginning of 1999 he came to Berlin as an editor for the daily newspaper Die Welt . In 2000 he was promoted to senior editor; he worked in Frankfurt am Main and Munich. In the same year, together with Holger Zschapitz, he published an introductory book on the stock market and stock investments . Among other things, he worked for the world as a correspondent for northern Germany in Hamburg. In 2004 he became head of the Hamburg editorial team for Welt and Welt am Sonntag .

Since October 2008 he has been deputy editor- in- chief at Hamburger Abendblatt . Iken lives in Hamburg-Othmarschen and is the “district godfather” there for his newspaper.
