Patrick Harvie (born March 18, 1973 in the Vale of Leven , Dunbartonshire ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish Green Party .

Harvie studied at Dumbarton Academy and Manchester Metropolitan University . He then worked in the youth work of an aid organization for homosexuals.

For the parliamentary elections in 2003 , Harvie ran as the top candidate of the Scottish Green Party in the electoral region of Glasgow and was able to secure just under one of the seven seats. He defended this in the parliamentary elections in 2007 and 2011 . In addition to environmental issues, he is also involved in the areas of homosexuality, asylum seekers and refugees. Since 2008 Harvie has chaired the Scottish Green Party with Eleanor Scott . Harvie ran in the constituency of Glasgow North in the 2017 early general election . He received 9.7% of the vote and clearly missed the mandate.
