Eleanor Scott

Eleanor Scott (born July 23, 1951 in Inverness ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish Green Party .

Life

She is a mother of two and lives with the SNP politician Rob Gibson in Evanton . Scott attended Bearsden Academy and studied medicine at Glasgow University . After that she worked as a medic for a long time.

Political career

For the first time Scott stood in the European elections in 1994 for Green Party. In her constituency Highlands and Islands , however, she received only the fifth highest number of votes and thus missed the entry into the European Parliament . In the parliamentary elections in 1999 Scott was the top candidate of the Greens in the electoral region Highlands and Islands , but could not win any of the seats with a share of 3.8% of the vote. She did not receive a mandate in the 1999 European elections either.

In the parliamentary elections in 2003 , Scott was once again at the top of the regional electoral list of the Greens in the Highlands and Islands and moved to the Scottish Parliament for the first time as a result of the election result . In 2007 she lost her parliamentary seat again.

From 2008 Scott was chairman of the Scottish Green Party with Patrick Harvie .
