Patrick C. King (born November 2, 1970 in Düsseldorf ) is a former German basketball player . He is also a UK citizen.

Life

King is descended from a German mother and an English father. He moved to Mexico City with his family as a toddler, and then grew up in New York State .

He played 71 games for Bucknell University between 1989 and 1992 . In the 1991/92 season King was the captain of the college team. In this game year he brought it to 610 points (20.3 points / game), which at that time in the all-time leaderboard of Bucknell University were only nine points less than the season high at that time. With a hit rate of 63.8 percent for throws from the field (between 1989 and 1992), he set a Bucknell record, and his hit rate in the 90/91 season (67 percent) at the time of his departure was a record in history the university team. The same applied to his 205 free throws and 1,133 minutes played during the 1991/92 game year. In 1992 he was named Player of the Year in the Patriot League .

After studying at Bucknell University, he began his professional basketball career in 1992 at TTL uniVersa Bamberg . In 1996 he changed clubs within the basketball league and played for MTV Gießen from the 1996/1997 season . In Giessen he was captain. King was a versatile winger who was classified as a good passer and rebounder.

After a brief loan to Panathinaikos Limassol in 1999, he returned to Giessen and remained there, as he was still under contract, until his career ended in 2001 due to an injury to his Achilles tendon . King scored 2,706 points in the Bundesliga during his career. He played 38 full internationals for Germany, his highest point in an international match was 15 in July 1994 against Brazil . King participated with the national team in the 1994 World Cup and the 1995 European Championship .

After the end of his career, King briefly worked as a trainer for MTV Giessen II (Oberliga). He worked professionally as a players agent and advisor. Well-known players King advised included Anton Gavel , Konrad Wysocki , John Goldsberry , Johannes Herber and Derrick Allen .

In 2006, King was inducted into the Bucknell University Sports Hall of Fame.
