Patrick Fabio Maxime Kisnorbo (born March 24, 1981 in Melbourne ) is an Australian football player with Italian citizenship who is currently playing in the position of central defender at Melbourne City .
Club career
After Kisnorbo had gone through several youth clubs in Australia and played among other things for the Essendon Royals , he moved to South Melbourne FC . After having been active in the club's youth for three years, the young central defender received a contract for the professional team, which was then a member of the top Australian division. Kisnorbo quickly gained a regular place and was able to achieve his first professional goals.
After the interim from the Australian professional league, Patrick Kisnorbo moved in 2003 to the Scottish first division club Heart of Midlothian . There, too, Kisnorbo quickly established himself in the defense center and also played his first international club games in the 2003/04 UEFA Cup , where he even scored a goal in the same competition a season later in the game against Sporting Braga . Despite his good performance, his contract was not renewed by the Hearts after the 2004/05 season .
Half a year before the end of his time in Scotland , Kisnorbo signed with the English second division club Leicester City , where he developed the status of an undisputed regular player and fan favorite over the next 5 years. On October 15, 2005 against Watford FC , he scored his first goal for the new employer. After he was initially used as a midfielder, he returned to his traditional center-back position. In April 2008, however, the Australian suffered a serious knee injury, from which he was incapacitated for six months, which was followed by another relapse and another injury break. Finally he had to leave the club at the end of the 2008/09 season, the contract was not extended.
At the beginning of the 2009/10 season, Patrick Kisnorbo signed a new contract with Leeds United . There, too, he was able to convince with good performances, even if he suffered further injuries. He could only be used in the last game of the season in 2010/11 because of a torn Achilles tendon.
National team
Patrick Kisnorbo made his debut in the Australian national team at the Oceania Championships in 2002 , where the team had to admit defeat in the final New Zealand. He had previously played in the Australian U-21 and U-23 teams . Two years later, however, his team was able to rehabilitate and win the title.
After changing associations, he also took part in the Asian Championships in 2007 , where they were eliminated in the quarter-finals against Japan on penalties.
Kisnorbo was also used regularly in the successful Australian qualification for the 2010 World Cup . Due to his torn Achilles tendon, however, he could not take part in the finals.

His father is from Mauritius and his mother from Italy.
