Career

The defender belonged to MSV Duisburg from 1984 to 1994 , and he was captain in 38 of his 56 games in the Bundesliga . Even after the Duisburg team fell into the third division, where MSV played from 1986 to 1989, Notthoff remained loyal to the club and led the club back into professional football. After the Bundesliga season 1993/94 he moved to SG Wattenscheid 09 for a year before joining SC Verl for three years in 1995 . From 1998 Notthoff played for three years for Schwarz-Weiß Essen in the upper-level soccer league in North Rhine-Westphalia before he coached the club's second team for another ten years. With this he was promoted from the district to the district league in 2004. The team narrowly missed the league twice. In addition, Notthoff was also assistant coach and goalkeeping coach of the first team at times. His older brother Pascal was also a soccer player.

Today Notthoff works alongside Christian Dondera in the rehabilitation center in Oberhausen as a rehabilitation trainer.
