Patrick Jean Pouyanné (born June 24, 1963 in Le Petit-Quevilly , Département Seine-Maritime ) is a French manager . Since October 22, 2014, he has been CEO ( directeur général ) of the Total group of companies.

Life

Pouyanné studied at the École polytechnique and the École Nationale Supérieure des Mines in Paris . From 1980 to 1997 he worked in the Ministry of Industry, in the Cabinet of the Prime Minister and other ministerial authorities in France. In 1997 he joined the Total Group, where he was Secretary General in Angola . From the following year, he worked in Qatar as general manager for a subsidiary active in exploration and production. In 2002, he became Total's Senior Vice President for Finance, Economics and Information Systems. In 2005 he took over the post of director at the Canadian subsidiary Total E & P Canada, which the Joslyn - oil sands project developed. From 2006 to 2011, he was Senior Vice President Strategy and Business Development at Total. From 2007 he was also head of the Spanish company Compañía Española de Petróleos . From 2012 to 2014 he was President of Refining & Chemicals and headed Total's refining business. After the previous CEO, Christophe de Margerie , died in an accident in October 2014, Pouyanné took over the management of the company.

In 2015, Pouyanné was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor for his services .
