Patrick "Pat" Powers (born February 13, 1958 in Los Angeles , California ) is a retired American volleyball and beach volleyball player .

Career

Pat Powers was a member of the US national junior team in 1978 and played in the "Pan-American Team" in 1979. With the "Trojans", the team from the University of Southern California , he was in 1980 NCAA champions. As a diagonal player, alongside Karch Kiraly , Steve Timmons and Craig Buck, he became Olympic champion in Los Angeles in 1984 , world cup winner in Japan in 1985 and world champion in France in 1986 .

From 1986 to 1990 Steve Timmons also played beach volleyball successfully on the US AVP tour. With his teammate from the Karch Kiraly national team, he became the unofficial world champion in Rio de Janeiro in 1988 .

After his active career, Pat Powers was head coach of the Trojans from 1997 to 2001 at the University of Southern California . Today he runs a volleyball camp in the USA.

Pat Powers is married and has two daughters.
