Patrick Ziegler (born February 9, 1990 in Graefelfing ) is a German soccer player . He is under contract with the Australian A-League team Western Sydney Wanderers .

Career

Ziegler began his career at the Munich district club TSV Moosach-Hartmannshofen and from 2003 played in the youth team of SpVgg Unterhaching . In the 2007/08 season he rose to the Bundesliga with the Hachinger A-Jugend . From 2007 Ziegler, who can be used as a left and right full-back as well as in central defense, played games for the second team of SpVgg in the Bayernliga and the Regionalliga Süd . From the beginning of the 2008/09 season, Patrick Ziegler was part of the SpVgg first team . He made his professional debut in the 3rd division on July 28, 2008 (2nd matchday) in a 1-1 draw in the away game against the second team of Bayern Munich .

Before the 2012/13 season, Ziegler moved to SC Paderborn 07 , where he signed a three-year contract. With 23 second division games in the following season , he had a share in his club's first promotion to the Bundesliga , in which he made his debut on August 24, 2014 (1st matchday), in a 2-2 home game against 1. FSV Mainz 05 .

Ziegler has played for 1. FC Kaiserslautern since the 2015/16 season . After fulfilling his contract, he left 1. FC Kaiserslautern after three years and 59 league games in summer 2018.

In July 2018, Patrick Ziegler joined the Western Sydney Wanderers . His German trainer Markus Babbel was decisive for his decision to sign a contract there until summer 2021.
