Paul-Émile Boutigny

Paul-Émile Boutigny (born March 10, 1853 in Paris , † June 27, 1929 there ) was a French painter and illustrator.

Live and act

Boutigny came from a family of craftsmen: his father was a tailor, his mother a seamstress.

After the Franco-Prussian War , Boutigny attended the École des Beaux-Arts and was mostly a student of Alexandre Cabanel . Boutigny soon found his own style in battle painting . Supported by his teachers, Boutigny was able to take part regularly in the great annual exhibition of the Salon de Paris from 1880 onwards .

In 1898 he was involved in founding the magazine “Cocorico” and, as an illustrator, devoted himself entirely to Art Nouveau (→ Art Nouveau ).

Paul-Émile Boutigny died on June 27, 1929 in Paris, where he found his final resting place.
