Paul Flora Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Paul Flora Prize is an art prize that was donated by the State of Tyrol in 2002 on the occasion of the 80th birthday of the Glurns artist Paul Flora († 2009) to promote young Tyrolean artists. The prize bears the name of the jubilee and until 2005, according to his proposal, was awarded annually to a young artist from the state of Tyrol and half from South Tyrol . After Flora's death, the provincial governments of Tyrol and South Tyrol took up this short tradition again. Since 2010, the Paul Flora Prize has been awarded annually in memory of the artist, alternately in Tyrol and South Tyrol, to young artists for outstanding achievements in contemporary visual arts north and south of the Brenner Pass. The prize is endowed with 10,000 euros. The nomination is made by a jury that includes not only one specialist from each country, but also one member of the Flora family.
