Paul Behrens (* 1893 in Lübeck ; † 1984 there ) was a German watchmaker .

Life

Behrens was the son of Paul Behrens the Elder. Ä., Who was also a watchmaker in Lübeck. The younger Behrens took over the management of the "Uhrenhaus Behrens" in 1936, which was built on the corner of Mengstrasse / Schüsselbuden below the towers of the Marienkirche to the chapel Maria am Stegel until it was destroyed in 1942 , and ran the family business until 1975.

Behrens another public was through his reconstruction of the chime mechanism in the Marienkirche in Lübeck known and its preparation of the new astronomical clock in this church (the original bells and the old astronomical clock were in World War II when air raid on Palm Sunday, 1942 destroyed ). He also ensured the financing of these projects and waited the clock until the end of his life. Behrens donated the astronomical clock to the church in 1967.

In the same year, the city of Lübeck presented Paul Behrens with the Senate's plaque of honor.
