Paul Constantinescu

Paul Constantinescu (born June 30, 1909 in Ploieşti , † December 20, 1963 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian composer .

Constantinescu studied at the Bucharest Conservatory with Constantin Brăiloiu , Dimitrie Cuclin and Mihail Jora and in Vienna with Joseph Marx . From 1935 to 1941 he was professor of music theory at the Music Academy , then professor of composition at the Bucharest Conservatory.

He composed two operas , two symphonies and a sinfonietta, a rhapsody , a chorographic poem , a string concerto (1955), a triple concerto for violin, cello and piano, a harp, a violin and a piano concerto (1952), free variations on a Byzantine tune from the 13th century , two Byzantine oratorios , string quartets and film music.
