Paul Girkon

Ferdinand Otto Moritz Paul Girkon (born March 10, 1889 in Groß Friedrichsdorf , East Prussia ; † May 4, 1967 in Münster ) was a German Protestant pastor and expert on Christian art .

Life

Girkon, a son of pastor Martin Girkon, studied at the universities in Bonn and Berlin and passed his first exam in 1911 before the consistory in Koblenz. Subsequently he was vicar in Mülheim an der Ruhr and assistant preacher in Oberhausen . After the second examination in 1913 he performed until 1916 military service in 1914 in Erlangen at Paul Hugo Wilhelm Hensel to Dr. phil. PhD . From 1916 to 1948 he was pastor at the Wiesenkirche in Soest . From 1924 to 1940 he was (at the same time) head of the advice center for church art in Essen and from 1946 to 1948 (at the same time) head of the office for church building and ecclesiastical art of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia . From 1947 to 1965 he was a lecturer for church art at the University of Münster .

Girkon was married to Mathilde Voelter in 1916.
