Paul Laurent

Paul Laurent (born May 1, 1925 in Génelard , Saône-et-Loire department , † July 8, 1990 in Saint-Cloud ) was a French politician of the PCF .

Life

In 1945 Laurent became a member of the PCF in Paris. In 1954 he was elected General Secretary of the Communist Youth of France . From 1956 to 1990 he was a member of the Central Committee of the PCF, from 1964 also of the Politburo and from 1973 also of the secretariat of the PCF.

He was a member of the French National Assembly in 1967/1968 and from 1973 to 1981.

A street in the 19th district of Paris was named after him.

In 2010, his son Pierre Laurent was elected National Secretary of the PCF.
