Paul Lemcke

Paul Friedrich Lemcke (born September 16, 1850 in Nordhausen am Harz , † May 17, 1909 in Zeulenroda ) was a German military official, writer and local politician.

Life

Paul Lemcke, was born in Nordhausen in the southern Harz and the son of the doctor August Maximilian Hermann Lemcke (1821-1885) and his wife Friederike Henriette Minna (1833-1908), born Reinhold on 27 October 1850, St. Nicholas (Nordhausen) baptized . He attended the Nordhäuser Gymnasium from 1859 to 1868 and then served as a one-year volunteer . As a reserve officer, he worked in various areas of military administration. In 1874 he passed the examination to become a general secretary. Because of his very good performance, he was posted to the Kingdom of Württemberg . He was secretary to the Minister of War for five years and was a war ministerial librarian and economic adviser to the General Staff Doctor. Between 1879 and 1884 he was the first secretary of the directorate and permanent deputy of the board of directors of the 27th division (2nd royal Württemberg branch) .

On August 14, 1876, he married the 20-year-old Therese Emilie Helene Becker († 1940 in Zeulenroda) from Rotenburg an der Fulda in Marburg an der Lahn . In 1882 the twins Ilse († 1948 in Greiz) and Ulrich († 1964 in Zwickau) were born.

In 1878 he was supposed to move to the Foreign Office of the Reich, but on April 10, 1884 he went to Frankenhausen as first mayor . Here he dealt with the history of the Kyffhauser and the history of the Ernst family in Nordhausen. After five years, Lemcke applied as second mayor in Nordhausen and was elected by the city council on January 23, 1888, after the death of mayor Kießling, with 26 of 32 votes in favor. For the next ten years he was u. a. Head of department for the museum and was also mayor at times . Because of disputes, he submitted his application for retirement on January 10, 1899. On April 9, 1899, he became First Mayor of Zeulenroda in Vogtland, and in April 1900 Lord Mayor.

Paul Lemcke died on May 17, 1909 in Zeulenroda and was buried on May 21 with great sympathy with military and other honors.
