Paul Müller (swordsmith)

Paul Müller (born March 29, 1888 in Gräfrath near Solingen , † 1971 ) was a German armourer who worked from 1939 to 1945 as a "master blacksmith".

Life

Paul Müller trained as a swordsmith and learned how to work Damascus steel . In 1938 he successfully took part in the “ Schaffendes Volk ” exhibition in Düsseldorf . Here he was the winner of the craftsmen's competition. In the same year he took part in the international craft exhibition in Berlin, where he met numerous Nazi figures.

In 1939 he became head of the Reichslehrschmiede , which had been initiated especially for him, and moved to Dachau , the headquarters of the forge. Here he worked as a so-called master blacksmith. In this function he was subordinate to the SS Economic and Administrative Main Office (WVHA), the Office Group W Economic Enterprises . Organizationally, the training forge belonged to the SS Totenkopf Division .

After the war he stayed in Dachau until 1946 and then lived in Wuppertal-Cronenberg from 1947 . Here he ran a forge.
