Paul Martin (politician, 1967)
Paul Martin (born March 17, 1967 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Labor Party .
Life
Martin attended All Saints Secondary School and Barmulloch College in Glasgow. From 1993 he was a member of the Glasgow Council.
Political career
In the Scottish parliamentary elections in 1999 , Martin ran for the constituency of Glasgow Springburn and won the mandate with a clear lead over the candidate of the SNP . As a result, he moved into the newly created Scottish Parliament . He defended his mandate in the parliamentary elections in 2003 and 2007 . In the course of the 2011 constituency revision, the Glasgow Springburn constituency was dissolved. Large parts went into the newly created constituency Glasgow Provan , for which Martin ran in the 2011 parliamentary elections. With a clear lead he prevailed against the competition and kept his parliamentary seat. With a loss of votes, Martin lost to the SNP candidate Ivan McKee in the following parliamentary elections in 2016 and subsequently resigned from the Scottish Parliament.
