Paul Pankert

Paul Pankert (born November 19, 1965 in Eupen , Belgium ) is a Belgian violinist and composer .

Life

Pankert received his training at the Liège Conservatory, then in Düsseldorf and Maastricht. Further education master classes took him to Sigiswald Kuijken and François Fernandez, among others . As a member of several chamber music groups, in particular Ensemble '88 in Maastricht , he gives numerous concerts all over Europe. Until 2012 he was a member of the Dutch early music ensemble Agimont .

He teaches at the Music Academy of the German-speaking Community of Belgium in the former Villa Arthur Peters in Eupen and is artistic director of the Maastricht ensemble for contemporary music «Ensemble 88».

In 2017, Pankert was awarded the title of artist of East Belgium by the German-speaking Community of Belgium for three years.

As a composer

Pankerts experimental use of new tonal systems led to his first composition  cleavage that the Composition Competition 2008  des Sciences Académie royale, et des Lettres des Beaux-Arts de Belgique won. Since then he has devoted himself alongside his work as a violinist and teacher more and more to composing and wrote numerous works, including commissioned works for the ensemble Nahandove, the organ Park Amsterdam , the Brussels Ars Musica Festival, the Quatuor MP4, the ensemble storm and sound, the Festival van Vlaanderen (B-Classic), the OstbelgienFestival and the Flagey cultural center in Brussels .
