Paul Pollan

Paul Pollan (born January 12, 1887 in Trieste , † March 14, 1971 ) was President of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Justice during the time of the corporate state .

Life

Pollan studied law at the University of Vienna and became a judge in March 1914. In 1924 he married Stephanie Fras- Wilda , the niece of the painter Charles Wilda . During the time of the corporate state, he served as president of the ministers Kurt Schuschnigg and Robert Winterstein and was significantly involved in the persecution of illegal National Socialists . After the National Socialists came to power, Pollan was appointed Vice President of the Linz Higher Regional CourtTransferred to the Upper Danube Gau. After the war ended, Pollan had to give up his position as Vice President of the Higher Regional Court. Investigations of the Austrian judiciary, which had been initiated because of his position against him, however, showed that during his entire term of office he was "exposed to severe attacks from the National Socialist side" and "never abused his position." Paul Pollan was the father of the World Bank - Director Hans Pollan , the tax advisor and auditor Paul Pollan and grandfather of the author Thomas Pollan .
