Paul Ritter (philosopher)

Paul August Max Ritter (born January 15, 1872 in Stolp , † August 6, 1954 in Berlin ) was a German historian and editor .

Life

Ritter was the eldest son of the master shoemaker August Ritter. He studied history and geography in Berlin from 1891 and received his doctorate on August 6, 1898 . On October 14, 1926 he married Sigrid Hedwig Helene Countess von der Schulenburg . He worked for the Leibniz edition of the Prussian Academy of Sciences , which he headed until 1939. He was also an employee of Wilhelm Dilthey from 1898 to 1911 .
