Paul Schaffer

Paul Schaffer (born March 12, 1875 in Glogau , † June 17, 1946 in Berlin ) was a German SPD politician.

Life

The trained potter and stove fitter joined the SPD in 1896. In Neustrelitz he was a functionary of the association of potters until 1901. From 1901 to 1904 he worked in Lübeck as a businessman and accountant. In 1904 he returned to Neustrelitz, where he initially worked as a warehouse keeper and later as the managing director of the consumer association. In Neustrelitz he was chairman of the local trade union cartel from 1904 to 1912 and 1920.

Paul Schaffer was a member of the Constituent Assembly in Mecklenburg-Strelitz and its Vice-President from November 1918 to February 1919. At the same time he was a member of the State Ministry in the Stubmann and Krüger governments until May 1919 .

From 1919 to 1933 he was a paid city councilor in Neustrelitz and chairman of the local AOK and sat on the committee of the state insurance company.
