Paul Schamer

Paul Schamer (born January 21, 1888 in Hildesheim , † 1951 in Hamm ) was a German trade unionist and politician ( center , CDU ).

Life

After attending primary school, Schamer completed an apprenticeship as an iron turner and then worked in the profession he had learned. He completed his active military service with the 2nd Shipyard Division of the East Asian Cruiser Squadron . He was active in the Christian national labor movement since 1905 , was trade union secretary for the Christian Metalworkers 'Association in Neheim-Hüsten from 1919 and became trade union secretary for the workers' associations in Hamm in 1924 . He also acted as the second chairman of the Association of Westphalian Health Insurance Funds.

Schamer joined the Center Party. From 1921 to 1924 he was a member of the district assembly and the district committee of the Arnsberg district , from 1925 to 1933 a member of the Westphalian provincial assembly and from 1928 to 1933 a member of the Prussian state assembly .

After the National Socialists came to power and the workers' associations were banned, Schamer had to give up his trade union activities. After the Second World War he joined the CDU and was chairman of the CDU district association in Hamm from 1947 to 1948.
