Paul Schmidtgen (born January 2, 1882 in Diez , † August 20, 1969 in Stuttgart ) was a German pharmacist and chemist.

Career

Schmidtgen was born the son of the postal worker Otto Schmidtgen and Karoline Schneider. He studied at the Friedrich Wilhelms University in Berlin and at the Technical University of Darmstadt .

After the First World War, the pharmacist took over a paint and varnish factory in Stuttgart, converted it to the manufacture of pharmaceutical preparations and formed the Haidle & Maier chemical factory from it .

In addition, he held various offices in professional associations. From 1931 he was chairman of the Central Association of the Chemical Industry and between 1933 and 1938 a member of the working group for pharmaceutical products.

After the end of the war he was co-founder and chairman of the Association of the Chemical Industry for Württemberg and Baden and member of the board of the Association of the Chemical Industry .
