Paul Schmolling

Paul Schmolling (born July 13, 1892 in Brandenburg an der Havel , † January 17, 1965 in Traisa near Darmstadt ) was a German painter and graphic artist .

Paul Schmolling was a pupil of Emil Orlik at the Berlin educational institute of the Kunstgewerbemuseum and did art history studies at the Berlin University . The artist was a member of the November group . After his time in Berlin, he lived in Insterburg , East Prussia , until 1945 , then in Elmshorn, Schleswig-Holstein . He was a cousin of the sculptor Katharina Szelinski-Singer .

In 1985, the Berlin gallery Nierendorf showed two lithographs by Paul Schmolling as part of the exhibition Artists of the November Group, both from 1923: Breaking Sun signed, dated, 173 x 238 mm and park paths and trees , signed, dated, 180 x 255 mm.

Paul Schmolling was married to the craftsperson Hulda (née Eckloff) († May 1, 1954 in Mühlen ), their daughter was the painter and graphic artist Ute Brinckmann-Schmolling .
