Paul Véronge de la Nux
Paul Véronge de la Nux (born June 29, 1853 in Fontainebleau , † June 6, 1928 in Paris ) was a French composer.
Life
Paul Véronge de la Nux studied at the Paris Conservatory and won the Second Premier Grand Prix de Rome in 1876 with the cantata Judith after Paul Hillemacher . He worked as "Chef de Chant" at the Théâtre de la Renaissance , which was under the direction of Sarah Bernhardt between 1893 and 1899 .
He composed three operas: David Rissio (1878), Lucrèce and Zaïre . The latter, based on a libretto by Édouard Blau and Louise Besson , was performed at the Paris Opera . He also composed an overture symphonique , song cycles and chamber music works, including several clarinet and trombone pieces for the instrumental competitions at the Conservatory. In 1903 he was named a Knight of the Legion of Honor.
